My Autobiography

Hi my name is Abu Diabate and this is my autobiography.I was born on the 28th of May 2004 at Kings Collage Hospital at approximately miday, maybe that’s why I looove my food.I grew up in Vauxhall and I’ve lived there  all my life with my older brother Cheick and my little sister Sara. I’m originally from Ivory Coast (my dad’s side) and also from France (my mum’s side). At the age of two years old I started going to James Kane Nursery, which was not to distant from my house, and that’s where I started to build up most of the skills I have today.Nursery was one of the memorable  stages of my life because that was when I learnt how to talk how to walk and run beside my perants and it helped me release my energy by being active.I stayed at nursery for 2 years.the time flew really fast.the next thing you know is that i’m starting primary school;I was really excited.

I went to St Marks Church Of England Primary School following the footsteps of my older brother.i joined St Marks in year one and i quickly made lots of new friends.Outside of School my mum got me to do trials for the football team my brother was playing for. After 3 trials i finally got into the club (Balham Blazers). Once i had got used to playing with my team mates i started to progress rapidly. My first manager James played me in defence because he saw that i was really strong but i didn’t like playing in that position. After two seasons with him he decided to leave the club to go and live with his girlfriend. After the summer holidays i had found out from my mum that my team had a new manager his name was Jordan.Jordan was the best manager i’ve ever had.It was the middle of the season, it was a league game, if we won we would stay first. i played really good in that game and my hard work did pay off.I came home, i had just finished washing my mum told me she had extrodinary news for me she told me that….. I had been scouted by Crystal Palace. When she told me that i started to cry.I couldn’t believe it. All my hard work had paid off. A few weeks later a few weeks later I went over to the crystal palace ground to do the trials . At the end of the trials they called over me and my mum . They told me that I wasn’t ready for academy level yet but if I keep working hard i would make it. I was really disappointed in myself but from that day on i played as good as I could every game.

Year 6 was a tough time of my life because that was when I had to get prepared for the SATS test. In the middle of the year ,around April, my teacher Mr Hobden taught us a new term called “growth mindset”. We watched lots of videos on how you praise children will affect their mindset. A wonmen called Carol Dweck gathered 100 people from all around the world and split them into two groups of 50. She gave the two groups a test that was not too easy and that was not too hard. When they had finished the test she praised one group for their intelligence and the other for their effort. After that she gave the two groups another test that was quite challenging. When the two groups had finished she saw that the people who were praised for their effort did better in the test than the people who were praised for their intelligence because the people who were praised for their intelligence thought that the should use talent not hard work to answer the questions.

I came into year six as a level 3 because of all the messing about I did in previous years. Learning about growth mindset inspired me to work as hard I I could and to  put effort in anything I do instead of using talent. I did the best I could in my SATS and because of the effort I put in to answer the questions I ended up getting three level 6 and the rest were 5’s.

I came to the London Nautical school mostly because my brother goes there aswell but also because I believe that it is a really good school. I didn’t have a very good start at the London Nautical School because I few weeks in I had already been to the referral base. But now I’m doing the best I can to improve my behaviour because I know that if I mess up at this stage of my life I will end up with a bad job maybe none at all and my dream of becoming a football player will wade away. So I have to make sure that I do my best so when I’m older I will earn enough money to look after my perants.
